Socso’s Lindung 24/7 Scheme to Be Implemented by Mid-Year

Malaysia’s Social Security Organisation (Socso) is planning to roll out its Lindung 24/7 Scheme by mid-2026, Human Resources Minister, announced today.

The new initiative, introduced under the recently passed Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Bill 2025, aims to provide comprehensive social security protection for workers around the clock — extending coverage beyond traditional work-related injuries to include accidents and incidents outside working hours.

“We need to ensure that the scheme ‘syncs with’ other programmes. So for now, it is still in the planning stage, but it will definitely be implemented this year,” Ramanan told reporters after a media luncheon in the capital.

Expanded Benefits Under Lindung 24/7

Once implemented, eligible workers will have access to a broad range of benefits, including:

  • Medical Benefit
  • Temporary and Permanent Disablement Benefits
  • Dependants’ Benefit
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Funeral Benefit
  • Rehabilitation and Education Benefits

These enhancements reflect a significant expansion from previous coverage, which limited protection to work-related incidents only.

Socso’s Ongoing Initiatives

Socso also highlighted recent achievements, reporting that 150,599 job seekers found employment through 3,715 career carnivals and interview sessions held nationwide last year, involving nearly 24,000 employers. Rehabilitation efforts have shown positive outcomes, with more than 80% of patients successfully returning to work.

In line with strengthening social protection, new facilities are in the pipeline, including the Socso Rehabilitation Centre in Ipoh and planned hospital and rehabilitation centres in Terengganu and Penang.

Future Focus

Looking ahead, Socso will also prioritise:

  • Amendments to the Employment Insurance System Act 2017
  • Gazettement of the Gig Workers Act 2025, expected to benefit more than 1.2 million workers
  • A feasibility study on a Commuter Scheme to support nearly 400,000 Malaysians working in Singapore

These efforts underscore the government’s broader commitment to strengthening worker protection and adapting social security frameworks to evolving workforce needs.
